She walked with her normal pace down the crowded sophomore hallway, stealthily avoiding the exhange of glances with the masses around her. She had a mission, and she felt like anyone who stared into her clear blue orbs would be suddenly conscious of the act she was about to perform. She'd practiced at home on her pillow many times, feeling more than confident she could pull it off. However, now was the time, and her hands were clammy in anxiousness. She eyed the gym doors.
"I hope they're unlocked," she said to herself. They usually weren't.
With surprising ease she pushed the handle and opened the door. She walked in, remaining casual. She took a right and saw the girl, sitting in the usual place on the bleachers, with the usual awkward facial expression. The girl saw her and made an even more awkward expression. She returned the girl's gesture with a tiny smile.
She sat down next to the girl, geometry book in hand. She'd planned to be "finishing geometry homework" to avoid unfortable situations of social interaction. As planned, the girl finally left to go to her seat in the far bleachers of the gym.
She knew it was time.
Without hesitation she reached into her plain black backpack and retrieved a ziplock bag. She unzipped it and pulled out a single plastic arm with a small pointing finger. It was but one of many severed barbie doll arms that she owned.
She stared at it for a moment in her palm then grasped it tightly, concealing all parts if it in her sweaty hand. She took her usual casual walk over to the girl in the far bleachers.
The girl looked over and smiled at her. Naturally, she smiled back at the girl.
"Open your hand."
"Why?"
"Just do it."
With hesitation but still trust, the girl opened her hand.
She took the plastic arm in her hand and jabbed it into the girl's hand. At first she didn't feel it. She laughed a little, then screamed in pain.
She wouldn't stop. She kept the sharp finger point to the palm of the girl's hand, pressing extremely hard. After a few more moments, she was done. She said "there!" to the girl and left, without the arm.
